How do I get started?

Add a habit in Habits and save its name, weekdays, color, and reminder time. Record completions in Today, then review this week, weekly history, and individual habits in Analytics. Open How to Use from the More menu in Habits for a short guide.

Is there a limit on habits?

The free version supports up to three active habits at the same time. This counts all currently active habits regardless of their weekdays, rather than all habits ever created or only today's habits. Paused habits do not use a slot, and their settings and history remain. Creating or reactivating a fourth active habit opens the Pro offer; you can go back without purchasing. HabitLock Pro removes the habit count limit with a one-time in-app purchase. There are no ads or subscriptions.

Notifications, Home Screen widgets, basic analytics, history, manual backup, and data restoration are available free. Pro does not expand notification scheduling capacity or widget display capacity. The medium widget shows the first six incomplete habits; the large widget shows a weekly board for up to five habits. Today in the app shows all habits scheduled for that day.

How do I purchase Pro, and what does it cost?

Open the Pro offer from the More menu in Habits or when activating a fourth habit. It is a one-time purchase, priced at ¥900 in Japan, with no subscription. Prices vary by storefront. The purchase screen displays the price Apple returns for your storefront; check it before purchasing. The app language does not determine the currency. You can retry if product information fails to load. Pending, cancelled, or failed purchases do not count as successful purchases.

Is restoring Pro the same as restoring my records?

These are separate features. Restore Purchases checks purchases associated with your Apple Account to restore Pro. A data backup restores habits and history from JSON. A backup file is not proof of a Pro purchase. On another device, restore your records and your purchase separately.

My existing data contains more than three active habits

The app preserves habits, settings, and history in existing data and backups. If you exceed the free limit, you can choose up to three habits to keep active or use Pro. You can still review history, export a backup, and restore purchases while making that choice. Past records remain if a refund or revocation changes Pro access.

How do I switch between Japanese and English?

HabitLock supports Japanese and English and follows the iOS app language setting. English is the default fallback for other languages. Habit names you enter are not translated. Changing the language does not change record dates or the weekly calculation range.

How do I complete a habit from a notification?

Swipe an individual notification left and tap Clear. If iOS delivers the action to the app, that habit is marked complete. You can also use Complete when iOS displays it, such as on a banner. Tapping the notification itself does not complete the habit.

Complete may not appear when you press and hold a Lock Screen notification. Clearing a group or using Clear All is not a guaranteed completion method. If an action is not reflected, check and correct it in Today.

Why are notifications not arriving?

Check HabitLock's notification permission in device settings and the habit's active status, notification switch, weekdays, and time. Focus and notification summaries can also affect display. You can keep recording habits with reminders off.

Waiting for notifications means the habit is outside the scheduling budget. Habits higher in the display order have priority. Reorder habits or turn off reminders for other habits to adjust this. We cannot promise when delivery will resume. A notification sync failure is displayed separately from a habit save failure.

How do I add a widget?

Press and hold an empty area on your Home Screen. Use Add Widget or the plus button in the editing menu, select HabitLock, and add a medium or large widget. Menu names vary by iOS version.

Create habits in the app first. Both widgets display the same records stored on your device as the app.

Why does a widget not update immediately?

Saving records and drawing widgets are separate operations. iOS controls when widgets redraw. Check your records in Today first. The medium Home Screen widget completes habits only: completed cards disappear and waiting incomplete habits can move into view. Undo a completion in the app or using an editable date tile in the large widget.

Future dates, unscheduled dates, and past dates with no recorded plan are not editable. There is no Lock Screen widget.

Does deleting a habit remove its history?

Past scheduled habits and completion history remain for analytics. If you delete or pause a habit already completed that day, its history for that day remains. Completing or undoing a habit does not reorder other habits.

How should I prepare for a new device or deleting the app?

Use Data Backup in the More menu in Habits to export habits and full history as JSON. The file contains habit names and history and does not have app-added password protection. Choose the storage and sharing destination carefully and keep the file. There is no cloud sync. OS backups depend on your device settings and are separate from manual export.

Does restoring data merge it with my current records?

No. After you review the file, restoration replaces your current records. The previous data is saved on your device and can be exported again. If only notification updating fails after restoration, the app shows that separately from successful data restoration and lets you retry updating notifications.

What should I do about a loading error?

Use Retry. The app does not automatically replace unreadable data with empty data. If the error continues, note the action, OS and app versions, and the displayed error. Avoid sharing private habit names or your entire backup unnecessarily.
